ABOUT US

The Mothers Institute Director and Advisory Board
 


JAN STOVER is the Founder and Director of The Mothers Institute and Mothers for Liberty National. Her life experiences are an eclectic blend of parenting, publishing, politics and entrepreneurial endeavors.

 During her years as a stay-at-home homeschooling mother of two, Jan also found herself active in volunteer work with homeschooling and scouting organizations. In addition, Jan has taught two through five year olds in a variety of preschool settings.

Previous editorial and writing experiences include working with local news magazines and political publications as well as co-owning a publication for senior citizens with her mother. These past experiences assist Jan in her current position as editor of the Mothers for Liberty Magazine, the official publication of The Mothers Institute.  

Jan’s political endeavors encompass both volunteer and paid positions at the state and local levels.

Jan resides in Illinois with her husband. Their grown children are currently in college pursuing degrees in architecture and engineering.


SHARON BREWER is a mother of one grown daughter. Her interest in helping young mothers learn the basic skills of mothering and her efforts in promoting liberty have brought her to The Mothers Institute first as a member and now taking a place on the Advisory Board.

She is the Group Organizer of the Southern Oregon Mothers for Liberty Meetup Group, serves as Mothers for Liberty National Group Administrator, and is a contributing writer to our Mothers for Liberty Magazine.

Sharon resides in Oregon with her partner.


LORI LORANGER is an advocate of self-education, initially homeschooling her 2 older daughters, now both in college, and currently facilitating the self education of her younger daughter and son. All four children were born at home. Together, Lori and her husband designed and built the home they share with their family.

Active in the community and a student of Taiji for 15 years, she has recently begun hosting a Non-Violent Communication practice group. Lori also serves on the board of a local Food Co-op, sharing the group's dedicated to the opening of a Co-op grocery in the area and also enjoys foraging for roots and berries and eating her local weeds. In addition, Lori is the Local Organizer of the SW Washington Mothers for Liberty Meetup Group and is a contributing writer to our Mothers for Liberty Magazine.

Lori is a native of Washington State where she resides with her husband and children.


JESSICA PERRY is a stay-at-home home schooling mom. She is the Group Organizer for the Denver Metro Mothers for Liberty Meetup Group, and also serves as group organizer for a local homeschooling group. 

Jessica has worn a variety of hats in her professional life which includes  writing and editorial positions and she continues to use these skills by way of our Mothers for Liberty Magazine. She has also owned her own salon business. Her family values their personal freedom, and works hard to stay as self sufficient as possible.

Jessica lives in Colorado with her husband and four children.


LESLIE WHITNEY is a stay-at-home, home schooling mom of two boys. She and her family are working toward self sufficiency on their homestead while building their extended community.

Leslie is the Local Organizer of the West Michigan Mothers for Liberty Meetup Group and plans to share her love for and knowledge of domestic arts and gardening with women in her group as well as at regional events. She is also a contributing writer to our Mothers for Liberty Magazine.

Leslie resides in Michigan with her husband, sons, pets and chickens.


The Mothers Institute Mission

The Mothers Institute is an educational and networking organization promoting methods of mothering which foster a child's sense of individual freedom and personal responsibility. The Institute also encourages the teaching and implementation of time honored traditions including reason, logic, creativity, civility, debate and dissent.
